The Sierra Leone Association of Hotels and Tourism (SLAHT) is strengthening the capacity of hospitality professionals across the country through an ongoing professional hospitality training programme designed to enhance service delivery, workplace performance, and industry standards.
The training programme brings together professionals from hotels, restaurants, guest houses, and other businesses within Sierra Leone’s tourism and hospitality sector. Participants are gaining practical knowledge and skills aimed at improving the quality and professionalism of services delivered to visitors and customers.

Building Skills for a Stronger Hospitality Industry
The programme covers a range of key areas essential to the successful operation and growth of the hospitality industry. Training sessions include hospitality management, customer service, front office operations, leadership, tourism, and entrepreneurship.
Through a combination of practical learning and professional development, participants are being equipped with tools and techniques they can apply directly in their respective workplaces. The training also encourages participants to strengthen their leadership abilities, improve customer relations, and adopt professional approaches to hospitality operations.
Promoting Excellence in Tourism and Hospitality
According to the Association, the initiative forms part of its broader commitment to developing a skilled and professional hospitality workforce while promoting excellence across Sierra Leone’s tourism sector.
As the country’s hospitality and tourism industry continues to grow, strengthening the skills of those working at the frontline remains essential to creating positive experiences for both local and international visitors.
Participants are expected to apply the knowledge and skills gained during the programme within their workplaces, helping to improve customer satisfaction, operational efficiency, and overall service standards.
The Association believes that investing in people is key to building a competitive and sustainable hospitality industry. Through initiatives such as this training programme, SLAHT continues to support hospitality professionals and contribute to the continued development and growth of Sierra Leone’s tourism sector.
